The Office of Diversity and Inclusion sponsors a wide variety of programs for students of all ages: K-12, Undergraduate, and Medical students.

In addition to the programs below, in collaboration with the Office of Admissions, ODI is starting the Pre-Medical Admissions Pathway (P-MAP) Program designed to help students who have experienced unique or greater than average challenges in preparing to become competitive medical school applicants and succeed in medical school. P-MAP students will be admitted to COM-T after successful completion of the program with satisfaction of the minimum performance metrics described below.

  • FACES Conversantes: A service-learning course that provides bilingual Spanish-speaking students the opportunity to volunteer as medical interpreters
  • Global MedCats: An opportunity to receive language training and clinical experience in Costa Rica or Spain
  • Pre-Health Experiential Learning (MED 493A): A course designed to prepare you for a career as a health professional, including clinical shadowing experience

  • Mock Interviews: An opportunity to practice the multiple mini medical school interviews
  • Mock MCAT: An opportunity to take a practice MCAT, offered several times per year
Research Opportunities
  • FRONTERA Summer InternshipFocusing Research on the Border Area (FRONTERA) Summer Internship provides undergraduate and graduate students with opportunities to prepare for medical school, hands-on research experience, and an increased understanding of public health disparities in the U.S.-Mexico Border Region. 
  • BLAISER (Border Latino & American Indian Summer Exposure to Research): The Border Latino & American Indian Summer Exposure to Research (BLAISER) is a cutting edge program at the University of Arizona Health Sciences (UAHS) designed to empower students to choose and enter a career in Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health or Biomedical Science. This opportunity is for undergraduates majoring in the biomedical fields to participate in cutting edge research and be mentored by top academic scientists while preparing for a translational career in medicine or biomedical research.
