Q&A With Allie

What has your path been like to where you are now?

My path has been pretty standard I would say. Straight through from college to med school to residency to faculty.

What do you love most about what you are doing now?

I love having the opportunity to meet people from so many different backgrounds and points in their lives. My job now is wonderful - I get to work clinically in the ED AND teach/mentor students, residents, & faculty.

What are some of your outside interests?

I Love food - eating, cooking, baking. I enjoy outdoor activities - camping, hiking. I also enjoy traveling and planning vacations with my family.

Did you have a mentor that contributed to your growth? Who was that mentor and what lessons did you learn from them? How did you find that person?

I have been fortunate to have many mentors along the way. I had a research mentor in med school and my residency program director was a great mentor during training. As faculty, I have found amazing mentors in different roles. Peer mentors have also been an incredible source of support and guidance for me as well.

What advice would you give to students?

     - Seek out opporutnities, be the DRIVER - don't wait for people to find you.

     - Be a professional at all times - be dependable, communicate, follow through on your commitments.
