Message from Dean Abecassis:

On March 28, the College of Medicine – Tucson launched the Diversity Engagement Survey (DES). This initiative is part of our goal to create meaningful change that supports inclusive excellence across all levels of our institution.

The DES is a tool to help us comprehensively assess the level of engagement and inclusion experienced across our institutional roles and identify strengths and areas for improvement related to engagement and inclusion. It is a 10-minute survey that connects workforce engagement theory with inclusion theory and has established face and content validity.

This project is a collaborative effort that requires everybody’s input. Starting March 28, you will receive an email invitation to participate in the Diversity Engagement Survey. We will be collecting responses for four weeks, through April 24. Responses will be anonymous, meaning that we will not be linking your responses back to you.

In order to get a clear picture of how we are doing as college, it is important that everybody participates in the survey, including students, residents, fellows, post-docs, faculty, and staff. Completing the survey will earn faculty and staff one DEI credit hour.

We look forward to participating in this exciting initiative. We will update the campus community on the findings from this assessment and the development of related action plans to further our DEI efforts at the College of Medicine - Tucson.

Thank you in advance for your valuable input.
