Mentoring

Virtual Pop In Mentoring

Designed with the busy student in mind!  Our medical students love to offer support for those who are up and coming, or simply curious about medicine as a future career.  Prior to the pandemic, our student Affinity Clubs hosted various in-person activities where formal and informal mentoring took place.  Since the start of the pandemic, we have all become familiar with online meetings and this has opened up a new model for mentoring, offering accessibility and flexibility to both our current students (who can be challenged in making it to campus for in-person sessions) and our interested pre-med/early inquiry students (who can also join from out of town).  Even if you don't have any particular questions, we encourage you to join in to hear what others may be thinking about.  As the program gains traction, we will have multiple sessions available for each respective club.  We thank you in advance for your participation and welcome your feedback!

Instructions for prospective students:

Scroll though the list of available sessions and register for each, separately, according to your interests.  Check back regularly as additional sessions will be added as they become available.  Sessions are not recorded.  Please reach out to ODEI Program Coordinator, Christina Renteria, directly with any questions or requests for accommodations.

Coming soon!- Click below to register for upcoming sessions: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080f4aa8af22a2fa7-popin

Currently Available! - Sign up to receive updates as they become available:  https://uarizona.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_eXvosd8DL0JVqqG

Tips for registering: The current version of the sign up platform is advertisement heavy, which we do not manage.  This may change in the future if the platform is suuccessful.  For the time being, please register for ONE session at a time, to guarantee that you recieve your calendar invitation appropriately.  Meaning, once you have completed one sign up, you can go back in and do another right away, versus checking the boxes of several sessions at the same time.

Instructions for current COMT Medical Students interested in volunteering:

Each club should sign up for at least 2 sessions per month!  We have almost 200 current applicants and pre-med students wanting to meet with each of our clubs to ask questions and hear about your experiences and insights, and the list continues to grown as outreach opportunities become available. We need to know which club and which 2 individuals from the club will cover each session.  THIS IS NOT LIMITED TO MS1’s SO PLEASE SOLICIT YOUR GROUP MEMBERS AT LARGE.  Mentees will register for sessions based on your sign ups and then receive the zoom details for your session.  This is a great way to provide support to the pipeline without a formal and ongoing commitment from each individual, and there is such a need right now!  This will continue as a year round project and should be included as club expectations when you transition to new leadership. Please reach out to ODEI Program Coordinator, Christina Renteria, directly with any questions.

Tips for General COMT Medical Student Sign ups: ALL students are welcome and encouraged to participate, regardless of existing club membership! Please indicate "no affiliation" when prompted and "n/a" if you do not know if a peer will be joining you.
