About GME Diversity

Dr. Murrain's Welcome Message

Welcome to the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson GME Diversity page.  We are excited that you are considering continuing your education at our institution.  The UACOM – T is dedicated to celebrating diversity, creating an environment of inclusive excellence where all members have a sense of equity and belonging as we seek to develop thriving and caring medical providers.

The University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson is located in the southwestern region of the United States and sits on the original homelands of indigenous peoples who have stewarded this land since time immemorial. We recognize and acknowledge the people, culture and history that make up the Wildcat community. Recognizing this privilege, respect for all dimensions of diversity is essential to the successful attainment of our mission.  We are committed to promoting health, improving wellness and diagnosing, and treating disease for all the people of Arizona and beyond, through innovation in education, research, and patient care.

An intentional culture of Inclusive Excellence creates role models, broadens perspectives, combats negative stereotyping and optimizes our ability to provide world-class health care for all.  We engage in institution-wide trainings and dialogues to continually advance our institutional growth and healthcare advocacy.  Collaboration and teamwork are also vital in ensuring our engagement with our clinical partner, Banner Health, whose mission is “Health care made easier, so that life can be better”.

We invite you to take a closer look at our institution and find your place with us.

Thank you,
Dr. Victoria E. Murrain
GME Director of Diversity Equity and Inclusion

Welcome to the Graduate Medical Education Office at the University of Arizona College of Medicine Tucson!

In 2017, The University of Arizona College of Medicine Tucson celebrated 50 years of innovation and providing medical education in the state of Arizona, and we continue to build on the solid foundation set for us in 1967.  In addition, our affiliation with our clinical partner, Banner Health, provides for an opportunity for our residents and fellows to be part of two great powerhouses in the state of Arizona. Banner Health is an organization nationally recognized for clinical excellence with an unwavering commitment to delivering excellent patient care.

Within both of these institutions, you will find individuals who care about your education and are dedicated to your future success.  Your program director, program administrator and the GME staff will provide you with the resources and support you need to be successful in your training.  Please feel free to contact us at (520) 626-7878 or by email at gme@medicine.arizona.edu.
