1. DECIDE if a career in Medicine is right for you.
Research the career to make sure a career in Medicine is something you want to pursue. Ask any physicians you know and consider volunteering in a clinical setting to get a thorough understanding of what it is like.

2. PREPARE to apply to Medical School.
Preparing to apply to medical school is the most time consuming step of the process. You need to research potential medical schools to fully understand their admissions requirements, choose a plan of study that ensures you take all of the required courses, prepare for and take the MCAT and acquire the relevant volunteer experience.

3. APPLY to Medical Schools.
Using the American Medical College Application System (AMCAS), apply to the medical schools that you have selected. Many schools have multiple-step applications, so knowing the process and timeline for each school is essential.

Now it’s time to plan how you are going to finance your education. Not accepted into a program? Don’t worry!
