Short Term Actions/Accomplishments

  • The Shared Shelf Book Club -examines readings relevant to racism in medicine and anti-racism
  1. Fatal Invention by Dorothy Roberts
  2. How to be an Anti-Racist by Ibram Kendi
  • Challenges
  1. Enhancing student, staff and faculty participation
  • Solutions –
  1. Met with SDAC – suggestions to be implemented
  2. Send quarterly or 6-month schedule of book club dates  and sections to be reviewed
  3. Sent timely reminders 1-2 weeks prior to meeting date
  4. Create list of books for the entire year/semester
  5. Offer incentives – books or other incentives for participants who attend
  6. SDAC willing to help promote Book Club
  7. Presentation at Coffee with COM-T Admin Meeting for their input

Create a Staff Diversity Advisory Committee (Staff DAC) to engage UACOMT staff
